Collaborative Art
When it comes to selecting artwork for your clients do you wish for more creativity on your part? Wouldn't you love to be able to create a work of art the same way you design custom drapery or bedding? Here is an opportunity to work with a very talented artist who can collabrate with you so you can express your unique creativity through artwork.
Your input is an essential part of the process! If you take a visit to the gallery below you would agree that although all of the artworks share the same air of serenity, each of them is strikingly different.

This is because, even before preliminary sketches were made, a one-on-one consultation with the Architect or Designer is set up either in person, on the phone or email.
Together a theme is decided upon, and a full-size watercolor sketch is done. The artist will suggest materials and techniques to be used for the finished piece such as: designer fabrics, hand-painted fabrics, hand embroidery, embellishment with seed beads, batik, appliqué, and other methods of surface design. The artist may ask to see a picture of the room or space where the artwork will be placed, to assure the finished piece will be harmonious with its surroundings.
As a result of this collaboration, the artwork is created with the vision and experience of the artist, but feels as if it were created by the Architect or Designer. If you would like a free consultation with the artist, give us a call at 845-352-5064 or send an email to neil@dwfcontract.com
The Artist - Olga Meylakh
"My art is an exploration of miraculous ways of communicating heart to heart."
When I was a little girl in Ekaterinburg, Russia, I kept imagining blissful living spaces filled with beautiful things (those are called "air castles" in Russian). I thought that in real life architects do this. When I grew up, I realized I wanted to be an interior designer. After starting a family in Riga, Latvia, I studied textile design and handcraft techniques at the Latvian Art Academy, moved to the USA, and received my Certificate in Interior Design from the Parsons School of Design.
Then I discovered to my own utter astonishment that I not only want to fill interior spaces with things found and bought, but I also yearn to create the artwork and decorative accessories. This revelation coincided with my visit to the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York. Experiencing his spirited paintings made me believe that the energy of a room can be harmonized by an enchanting artwork.
I started out with making small fiber art pieces as gifts for friends, and that led to another discovery: that I have a knack for "connecting with the heart" of that particular person and being inspired by his or her unique essence. I often heard something like, "Oh, it feels as if you created exactly what I imagined, but didn't know how to describe!"
The last, though not least source of inspiration for me is Nature, especially vast open spaces. It spans from my travels to the Northern Tien-Shan Mountains in Central Asia, the great Lake Baikal and Altai Mountains in Siberia, the Caucasus Mountains in Georgia, living by the Baltic Sea, going whale watching in Cape Cod...
I feel blessed to have found in fiber art the way to meld my interior design training with my love of fabric and all things textural, as well as my talent of creating artwork that is nourishing to the soul of owner or viewer. If not for my husband and two sons, I would never leave my studio.
My current work focuses on my fascination with the iridescent effect of silk taffeta that creates visible movement within the artwork when the viewer looks at it from different angles. And as always, the wonderful depth created by adding layers of organza or chiffon, by embellishing the piece with appliqué, seed beading, vintage jewelry, embroidery, and painting... The allure of creating - heart to heart!
