See Shelley's Skull!
For the first time ever, selections from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein manuscript will be available for public viewing in the United States in this exciting exhibition, which is being shown in collaboration with the Bodleian Library at Oxford University in England and will highlight the literary and cultural legacy of P.B. and Mary Shelley, and that of her parents, William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft.
Why am I writing about this? A few months ago I received a call from Barbara Suhr an Interior Designer who has designed projects for many institutions including Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, The Jewish Museum, Forbes Inc., American Jewish Historical Society and many other world class institutions throughout the U.S. She asked me if I would like to design historical drapery treatments for this upcoming exhibit at The New York Public Library. Barbara explained that this exhibit was about the poet Percy Shelley, the husband of Mary Shelley who wrote Frankenstein.

The Green Window
For the summer of 2012, Decorating with Fabric is introducing its new Lunch & Learn program called Technology & The Green Window. As a recipient of the 2010 Green Business Award, Decorating with Fabric is proud to continue in its tradition of offering education focusing on sustainable window coverings.
According to AIA, the idea of sustainability in Architecture and Design is to "remove rather then to add stress to systems". When applied to Window Coverings, this becomes the driving force and theme behind this course. Removing stress when designing window coverings is why function needs to be considered before form.

Grand Style for Grand Havana!
The Grand Havana Room is an exclusive membership cigar club located on 5th Avenue in Manhatten. The club reflects a relaxed and casual attitude amid exquisite architectural surroundings. It is for men & women who appreciate the pleasures of the world's finest cigars, as well as the year-round company of those who share this and other lifestyle interests.
We just completed reupholstering 64 sofas, love seats and sofas in a synthetic suede. As you can se in the photos below we used 3 different color suedes for the project. The club looks great and we are very grateful for the opportunity of providing our services to this prestigous club.

IDCEC Approves
"A Designer's Guide to Sustainable Window Coverings"
Decorating with Fabric is pleased to announce that it's course "A Designer's Guide to Sustainable Window Coverings" has been approved by IDCEC for HSW 0.1 Credit. This one hour luncheon presentation covers the important aspects of how window coverings can be sustainable. The discussion touches on how successfully designed window coverings can reduce stress from systems in both commercial and residential applications.
