Well this was a first for us, and man what a success it turned out to be. The idea of solar powered window coverings seems complex as ever, however with only a few additional parts it turned out beautifully. We had a client call us after seeing our SolarPac webpage on the InSync Solar site (click here to see for yourself), she had solar panels on her house and wanted to continue her environmental practices on her windows. Our InSync SolarPac System is actually quite a simple enough process. All that is needed is a window with minmul overhang (sometimes not easily accessible in New York City Apartments), a typical motorized window shade and of course the three piece SolarPac system (see below).
As you can see from the picture above, the process and execution is not nearly as involved as you might think. Converting your standard window coverings into a completely green and rechargable requires the following SolarPac System: The Photovoltaic Panel, which enables your one of a kind system to store the suns ray which will keep the SolarPac battery fully charged. Our patened “Y” Harness that transfers the suns ray directly into electricity, and finally our Nickel Metal Hydride battery that runs your window shade at night. One important thing to remember is that each window shade does require its own SolarPac System, making your window the ultimate green product.
Installation
At this point in the story you a thinking, “wow a solar powered window shade, really sounds great! But the installation process must be be extensive and the costs astronomical”. Well luckily for you, solar power has been broken down to a simple install and to a cost that everyone can afford. The installation process involves first cleaning the window and solar panel, then adding double stick adhesive to the solar panel and finally just plugging the solar panel into the battery via the “Y” harness. And there you have it, a simple and effective installation to keep your window coverings green for years to come. The picture below illustrates the prep process before installation.
Once the SolarPac System has been cleaned and prepared, it is ready for the installation. Our battery fits snug into the motorized shade motor and the solar panel is easily applied to the window glass. That’s it, you have a state of the art, unique window covering system that will rival all others and be the centerpiece of your dinner conversation for years to come.
